Default 1.8t running but the clutch isnt man enough HELP

Hello Friends

Got my car running, now converted to 1.8t with the Garrettt Gt28rs turbo.

It runs well and produces lots of power (un-measured yet) my big problem -the cheap clutch I bought from TechniClutch - a so-say uprated package with Single Mass Flywheel slips at the nearest whiff of Boost.

I'm trying to get my head around what I need with out forking out loadsof money I havent got!

My first issue is people ask what gearbox I have - and I dont know the code it came from a 2.3 20v B3 coupe 1990/91 model

Please can someone tell me the code and also possible a good combination of clutch parts to buy to accept potentially 300bhp.....potentially.

Also it would be really good to know if the lightened fly wheel purchased as part of the kit will work with say a Sachs SRE type friction plate and cover.

Thanks in advance

Bry

FWD or quattro?

If you have already purchased some flywheel - what size clutch it supports - 228 mm or 240mm?

And actually - why are you asking us the code of your gearbox - you have the car, so while we can only guess, you can read that goddamn code. It's on top of the bellhousing, straight after the engine.

Hi MSH

Fair point on the gearbox code - I wasn't aware it was stamped anywhere I could see it, admittedly I could have looked first!!
The clutch kit I purchased was a complete package, lightened Flywheel, Friction and cover plate, no where on the invoice or documents does it state the diameter and I didnt measure it before fitting, which is annoying. So I cant tell you.

What I do know is I think I'm going to remove the whole kit andask for my money back so I will be requiring a new flywheel and all clutch parts.

Thanks

Bry

Any chance you could be mistaking clutch slip for wheel spin? The fwd cars just don't seem to be able to handle much more than about 160/170 bhp, from what I've experienced.

I wish!! At least that would put a smile on my face, no it was Dialynx who brought to my attention following the run to the MOT centre, and I have to trust their judgement.

AXD or AXG is the code for the 20v FWD gearbox depending if it was from a 90/coupe respectively

I'll have to have a look at your build thread to see how you made it all work
