I'm with Matt as well, I'd take this 80 over a Sport Quattro - and I've driven/ridden in a Sport Quattro !

a lot rarer and more practical than a Sport quattro as well!

At least you can get 2 in the back of this!

Worth every penny in my book, this is in the top 5 of my forum all time favourite cars.

indeed!! I put two lap belts in the rear so I could bring the wife and two kiddies in the car too. Up til then it was one front seat passenger only. I can report that it accomodates two baby seats nicely!!

thanks again for the nice comments guys. If you know of anyone looking for such a car, please point them this way. Bear in mind too that with the stock suspension, wheels and lamps reinstated (all present and can go to the new owner) it's a nice, factory spec car with a new paint job and leather interior. Just in case anyone doesn't fancy driving a lowered car

oh, did I mention the price is negotiable? Sterling is strong these days which makes buying an Irish car very cheap for UK buyers...

It sold to a chap in Dublin so it stayed in Ireland.

On the off-chance anyone is in the market, I got an email from the chap who bought the Audi from me: he's decided to move it on again. He's had it stored in a lovely dry, central heated garage in a leafy Southside Dublin suburb and only taken it out on dry days. He's really taken good care of it so it's just as nice as the day I waved it goodbye. I was up with him a couple of months back and saw how well he was minding it for myself. It hasn't been seen at a show since Fermoy 2012. PM me if you want his details. Obviously I'm not selling it, just giving the heads-up here so I can't include a guide price, sorry

here's an updated version of the original for sale ad from when I had it, you'd want to speak directly to the seller about the details of what's included, literature-wise and obviously, the price.

1973 Audi 80

Very rare car, original Irish (Raheny, Dublin) registration. RHD obviously (makes it even rarer)

Extensive restoration, see here: http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=44234

New paint, full colour change, inside and out. Unreal job done by Lanes Autobody, Sallins
New leather by AT Autostyle in Castlecomer. 100% Perfect.
1.8 8v engine, new headgasket, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, fuel pump etc etc etc
NOS exhaust system, from manifold to tailpipe and genuine Audi rubber hangers
original 4-speed manual gearbox, new clutch, release bearing, CVs, boots, hardware etc
custom coilover front suspension, new Boge gas shocks
Koni adjustable rear suspension
Mk1 GTI vented 239mm front brakes, new pads, hoses, pipes
Vento 200mm rear drums, all new shoes, cylinders, hoses, pipes
New polished 15" Porsche Fuchs recreations
Genuine Porsche steel spare wheel
5x new Bridgestone 165/50R15 tyres
FK adapters, 15mm front, 20mm rear. No rubbing whatsoever, front or rear, full bounce, full lock. Very driveable.
NOS period Kamei tunnel tray and NOS gear stick boot to match
Cleaned and detailed to hell and back, inside and out, front and back, above and below. See the build thread.
tons of new and NOS (New Old Stock) parts used throughout, you wouldn't believe how hard some were to find and the expense of them too, full factory chrome trim package, imported at great expense from Germany, Australia, America, UK, Austria etc etc etc

Aside from the full restoration, it's what I would call a mild custom: it's lowered, has different headlamps and wheels. I have the original suspension, headlamps and 13" steel wheels with good tyres (spare unused) if the new owner wished to return it to stock look. Obviously it would still have the upgraded engine, brakes, interior etc so wouldn't be 100% stock...

This is an extremely early RHD model, possibly the only early RHD model in the world restored to this standard. If you know anything about these cars you'll appreciate how rare and how well presented it is and how much money and time went into it. If this is brought to the UK it'll go down a storm at shows like Edition38 or Inters, maybe even take more trophies for the new owner?

When I sold it, it came with a package of period correct Audi literature: sales brochures, owners manual, dealer repair manuals etc. Just some nice additional things to have...
