About 3 years ago the company I work for exported a 2001 van to Holland for one of their guys to use in his role as a salesman. Yes, they get their money's worth from their vehicles.
This van has now just been brought back to the company's head office and I've bought it. I've had it MOT'd (against the chassis number) and just want to sell it on. Does anyone know what I need to do to get it re-registered on English plates? At present it seems to have some kind of paper export plates fitted. I have been told by a mate that I need to get it insured and taxed before I can re-register it but I can't see how I can get it taxed without a reg number and I don't want the hassle or expense. However, I think from what I read (and it's confusing and conflicting) that seems to be the way to get a reg doc for a vehicle that hasn't ever been in the UK. This however has been exported and now imported. As it's sitting on my driveway and will stay there until it's sold it won't need insurance either (unless I have to tax it). In my ideal world I will sell it to someone who has the correct insurance to test drive it. Anyone have any idea? Ta. |

Take your paperwork along to the closest DVLA office,
They can be most helpfull IF they decide that you are not trying to pull a fast one. From memory, the form you need is a V765. This is the form for both new cars and older, to avoid even a temporary Q reg, provide proof of date(year) of build. Local dealer can do this assuming you don't know the original reg details, if you do then it is so much simpler. Good Luck & be polite |
