Standards, are they slipping? - Page 2

Its been getting gradually worse for years and is hardly surprising and not really kids fault when people put money and jobs before bringing up their children properly. Lynn gave up full time work for the best part of 10 years in order to give our two the best start and instill the necessary values, consideration and manners that seem to be missing these days from some youngsters though not all, thankfully.
Seems to have worked for us, though it was hard work staying afloat at times and are seeing the benefit of it now. Unfortunately many from all walks of life basically leave kids to bring themselves up whilst they jump back to work straight away in some cases or expect teachers to do what they should have been doing before they get to school. It is harder now though as thanks to successive governments there's nothing in place to keep people at home to bring up the children, all based on work work work, sod the kids... We'll just blame them when they go nuts in public. At the end of the day it's parents responsibility to do the right thing however hard.
My Pete was discussing this in Ethics and thinks that children are born bad and parents have to make them good. Not sure that's quite right though I can see where he is coming from...

The way i see it is it started to go tits up when they banned corperal punishment in schools

Also far too many health and safety rules or ledgislation so you loose the natural selection process

I think the country now,is more materialistic.(That's part of,the fault.)
Perants have to go to work and leave their kids to get on with it,to pay for all the new toys.
I'm dreading it,when I have to go around on a Zimmer frame.Someone is bound to hit me over the head and nick it for scrap metal.
The scallies,pee me off.They breed like rabbits and each generation,gets thicker.Not many of them work,why when the goverment pay for their massive family.Nowadays,you're better off on the dole.
Don't,get me started.
