100Coupe's car has an interesting upgrade which is new slightly wider steel rims (6J I think) on original steel wheel centres which gives the wider track look whilst retaining the OEM look also. He had to extend the bolts holding the trims on though. Looks great in my opinion...

I have these spec trims on 5.5 j I think? How far out is sensible 6 or 6.5j? These look like 6.5 or even maybe 7j?

I will be up and down the M25 in it alot Guildford to Caterham turn off so would like a decent footprint on the ground if I dont have the modern "Health and Safety " equipment on board.

Those look like they could be as much as 7" wide in total which is ok at a standard ride height. I personally think they need a little lowering to give a nice stance and together with a 6-6.5 " rim would look nice. 100Coupe has about 1" lowered coils on the front I believe (any photos of your car Rich?). Mine was a bit saggy looking on the rear (normal on with torsion bars) so the idea was to drop the front a bit to match...

Standard Coupe (steel) wheels are 5" wide. Mine have 6" rims mounted on the original wheel centre, with the extra inch on the outside of the wheel. The wheel trims are fitted using spacers attached to the original wheel nuts. When I lowered the car, I aimed for 40mm, but not certain if I achieved that. Either way, I think it looks about right.

A quick troll about the web gave me this........

139.7mm = 5.50"
If you are interested in wheel adapters so you can put on a rim with a standard bolt pattern, take a look at
http://adaptitusa.com/index.aspx
They do not list 4X140mm on their website, but a (4x140) subaru brat forum user called them up and they can do them. They quoted:

4X140 --> 5X100
$77.25 each

4X140 --> 4X100
4X140 --> 4X108
$57.25 each

Prices quoted Feb 2011

Any good?

Mine wears Wolfrace aftermarket rims that I like VERY much. Steve Love, a member of the UK 100 Coupe' Club has these on his C1 Coupe, too.

A friend of mine here in the U.S. HAD (sorry- just found out they were sold) a set of aftermarket wheels in 4x140 for sale. *Sorry for the small picture. The original was moved or deleted resulting in that strange pic of the A4 that appeared temporarily. They look like this:

This one looks great...I think these are ATS:

I can't speak to this company, but as I think others have mentioned, you have to be sure you have the space to push the wheels outward.

Another consideration with adapters is the extra strain that is put on the wheel bearings from the wheels being pushed outward. And with early 100 Coupe' S front wheel bearings being different from the sedan and near impossible to find (PLEASE let me know if anyone has a new set to sell me!), I would be wary of accelerating their demise.
