auto box

hi all i have an 83 80 auto 1.8, box is knackered does any other gearbox do the job.
could i put a bigger one in it like 2.0 or even 2.3

hi, from what i've picked up on, on here, i think it will have to be a four cylinder gearbox, i think all the five cylinder ones are interchangeable. ('i think!' should be outlined, lol)

cheers for that missfire, just cant seem to pick one for the 1.8 but can pick up the other one's ok, just wanted to know if they fit.
