![]() Right, where do I start.
Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all that attended AITP 2011. I say it every year and this year will be no exception. Without you all the show would be a failure. It’s your passion for the show that keeps it going and keeps it getting better and better each year. I think I can safely say that AITP is the most looked forward to event in the show season calendar and once again this is down to you guys. You will often read on forums “can’t wait for AITP” or things like “gotta get my car sorted and ready for AITP”. Its statements like these that always make me smile. You see, as some of you already know, AITP is not a big budget event funded by a bigger organization sitting in the background rubbing their hands together every time someone buys an advanced ticket, it is me and me alone. Lock stock as the saying goes! AITP was a real mixed bag this year, some have said it was the best yet and some have said numbers were down and they doubt the show will happen in 2012. Well here it is from the horses mouth so to speak.....Advanced ticket sales were up....well up! Clubs in attendance were up....well up....in fact I wasn’t even aware some of the clubs that attended even existed! Overal attendance figures were slightly down (and I really do mean only slightly down) and I put this down to the iffy weather on the few days run up to the Show. This in turn obviously put the “see what it’s like on the day” visitor numbers down. This year I also responded to a complaint I had last year that some clubs felt a little crowded by so I spread the field out and let clubs have more space. This could of given the illusion that the numbers were down too. A question I am ALWAYS asked is why weren’t Audi themselves represented? The truth is I have no idea! In my eyes they are missing a fantastic opportunity to present the range of models to their customers.....YOU, wether you are a Potential customer, future customer or existing customer, we all buy into the brand and love the whole Audi lifestyle. Audi UK have been supporting AITP on facebook and are asking for images to be posted on there page, maybe this is there way of finding out just how influential AITP is for next year..lol I have again learnt a lot from this year’s show and 2012 plans are already in the making. Inviting clubs from Europe over to join us is just one of the ideas that is already rolling. If you have any images from the day, please feel free to email them to me at audisinthepark@yahoo.co.uk and I will see if I can add them to the AITP website. All that is left for me to say is once again thank you all and look forward to seeing you all at AITP 2012. p.s...AITP official merchandise is now available via the website....please feel free to have a peek. |

![]() from my point of view, it was an excellent show.
Numbers were down for Classic Audi members but that boils down to cost of petrol and travelling as a lot of us are heading to the German Classics car show in Wigan this weekend so 2 weekends on the trot will work out expensive. Only criticism from myself was our club plot as such soon got over crowded by the 2 clubs either side of use so we had no choice than to double park which gave the overall feeling of us having the smallest club there, which was a shame as there was a huge area we could have moved to and had a nice line up but we didn't want to move from our spot near to the trees! It saved Rod a job of putting the gazebo back up! If the club plots had have been marked out, we wouldn't have had several of the new modern thingies (A series wotsits!) park next to us. As it was, it looked like 3 clubs had merged in to one. I'd certainly work on marking out specific plots for clubs to avoid this scenario if possible??? Other than that, well done once again! Also, is there any other way of luring people in to the show 'n' shine? The VW scene always has a massive entry for this type of thing but the Audi scene always seems not to embrace it as much. It's the same at Audi Driver International. I always see plenty of cars on club stands and they are more than worthy of being in the show n shine but prefer to stay with their group but there seems to be some reluctance to put it in to the show n shine arena. |

Marked out club pitches. I did plan on doing that, however as I never really have a clue of how many cars each club is going to have it becomes difficult. No point i allocating a huge plut for only 5 or 6 cars and vice versa with the larger clubs. It is a fine balance of spreading people out and cramming people in that I obviously havent got just right yet. Maybe next year I should send club stand passes, at least that way I will have a rough idea of how much space to allocate. Show & Shine Agreed...the VW scene does attract a bigger s&s field but then again the vw scene is bigger than the Audi scene in general. I did toy with the idea of leaving the s&s entrants with their specific clubs and get an idependant body to go around and find them and judge them. That might well be the course of action I will take next year. Valid points that I hope I have answerd matey ![]() |

![]() The Event
Whist I really enjoyed the day I would agree with Coxy about the space allocated for Classic Audi. I would however say that I would have been quite happy to move and re-erect the Gazebo ![]() Camping I feel that Wickstead Parks insistence that campers make individual bookings was a mistake as it resulted in Club members being spread about the camping site. Would it be possible to negotiate with them so that a Rally area could be set aside purely for those attending, as it was last year. All in all a great day and I look forward to next year. Thanks to you, Calvin.
