fair play, good work,im glad to see im not the only one playing around with bits from other cars.......out ofinterest though, where is the benefit to doing this?,is it that the porsche are 4 pot whereas the audi only 2?

yes.
and whats more, on earlier quattros, they are only single pot calipers. So a good deal for all.

Not so strange from an economics point of view.

The calipers were in widespread use across most of the audi models, so for fitment, only the carrier was model specific.

oops, sorry chaps - didn't realise this had been replied to!!

I made the carriers to use the original discs. Main reasons for this were so the original 15" Ronals could be retained and secondly, when the brakes are worn later in life it's dead easy and cheap to get a set of standard fit Porsche pads and ur discs. If you use perculiar discs it can be expensive at swap time.

The brakes will fit anything mr Groomington as I measure up and manufacture the carriers specific. to the car.
The carriers made from Dura-Al (aircraft grade alloy that remains strong and rigid even when very hot during braking) would be about £100 including the bolts. That's what it costs me in materials and machine hire to make 'em. You CAN use bigger discs if you wish but if anyone needs a set making up to use standard discs I have the drawings so canm make em without seeing the car.
It's easy to pick up the callipers on flea-bay for about £150-£200 depending on condition, usually including a set of pads! Standard flexi hoses fit straight on without mods too - bonus!!!

Hi Ben

Just to stick a spanner in the works.... Could/ would B5 RS4 cailiper fit Ur rims? I have sourced a set of RS6 discs and calipers so the standard ones will be for sale once swapped over, failing that I assume they bolt straight onto B5 S4 as well without mods required?

Trouble there mate is that the standard B5 RS4 calipers are still teves type sliding calipers so not much of an upgrade over the S2/20v ur set up. They're a bit bigger but not as rigid or powerful as the Porsche 4/6pots.
Much more difficult to retro fit them too as they have a seprate carrier that bolts directly to the hub so if the bolt spacing is incorrect (which it will be) then you can't make a new carrier to fit them.
Same story if fitting to the B5 S4 too.
RS4 discs great but callipers were always a weakness due to their design. Sorry chap!

Hi Chris you have boxster s front calipers iirc, it was me and spink who did the conversion on the gold 100 you aquired from him, check the part numbers on them, should read 996.351.425 and 426. I made the brackets. larger pistons than the boxster rears and for a wider disk, 28mm thick disk on the front of the boxster s, but 30mm can be squeezed in.
