Thanks Darren, shame you can't make it. (It's only Thursday by the way, tomorrow is Friday! ).

We have put an entry in for Gurston Down (Salisbury) on Saturday 17th April. The next event there will be at the end of May.

When we get confirmation I'll post it up.

Just phoned Castle Combe, entry for spectators is free!!!

Nearly fully negotiated to bring the family down for a couple of hours, I'll wander over Tim and say hello if we do, might bring a couple of mates too.

Cheers

Steve

Well, a disappointing start to the sprint and hillclimb season with a DNF. Only our second since starting 3 years ago, so that's not too bad going I suppose.
Sorry we missed you Steve, hope you had a good day anyway.

My friend/co-owner/double driver took the car out first, he was only the second car on track.
There was a bit of white smoke from the exhaust on the overrun which got progressively worse. On returning to the pits, we found the engine bay covered in oil.
The theory was that the new return line from the breather oil catch tank into the bottom of the downpipe wasn't liking the back pressure from the exhaust. The build up of crank case pressure forcing oil out of the cam cover gasket.
So we revereted back the the open filter on the outlet of the catch tank, mopped up the oil and I took my place on the start line.
After a lap or so I noticed the plumes of smoke in the mirror, I backed off and pulled in!!! It only seemed to be fireing on 4 aswell.
This time engine bay was dripping in oil and we even had a couple of flames on the exhaust manifold for good measure, gave the fire marshall something to do anyway.
It was obvious we had issues, so we cleaned it up a bit and put it on the trailer.

Towed it straight down to my work and steamed off the engine, well most of the car to be honest, then took it back in my garage where the compression test revealed zero on No.5!
We immediatley started stripping the engine and by teatime had it ready to the lift the head.
We did so this morning and after seeing the evidance in the attached photos, pulled the block and stripped it.

I think it's going to need a new piston .

Hi Tim, really sorry to hear this, hope the old girl is repairable ASAP... If it looks terminal for the engine block, give me a bell, I might be able to help. Hope she's fit for Gurston, got a bit of a groupy thingy going on for that... (secret squirrel, if you know what I mean)...
