when i said grease i didnt put a large amount, rather a smidgen enough to dampen the cardboard,id be very suprised if anything was left beneath the rubbers...in all fairness,my rubbers, whilst not leaking, were as shot as they could be,what ive done, whilst im very pleased with the outcome,i look at as only a temporary repair cos i know that in a couple of years time the silicon and rubber will start to separate with the damp, but sooner or later some decent rubbers will materialise and i shall point this out to the new owner that itll have by then.......ford capri window rubbers are still available to buy relatively easily,i know cos ive bought them, audi coupe s rubbers are, well, all gone and as far as i know not being manufactured anywhere....rubbers are something that i dont think id like to have custom made as 1 or 2 mil difference in size(which there always is in custom stuff) will end up with either non fitting rubbers or chromes,or the worst scenario, cracked windscreens!..thanks anyhow
