Today, went to local motorfactors to get clay bar kit. They hadn,t heard of them.(To be totally honest,i hadn,t till i joined this site.)
Went to Halfords and got the only type of kit they had,Meguiar's. Have a play tomorrow. Has anyone used this kit,how good is it? Karl. |

I use clay bars regularly on cars.
1 thing you have to remember is lube, lube and then lube some more! If you don't use plenty of lube you will marr the paint! Apply only a gentle amount of pressure. Don't use finger tips, but the pads of your fingers, lube the car using quick detailer and then gently drag the clay bar over the are you are working on. work in areas of no more than 12" 's square at any time. You'll be surprised just how much crap you will lift from the paint. and the paint will feel like glass after you've done it. |

not really. The stuff I've got at the moment is trade stuff off our local autosmart rep and is very similar (if not the same) as the mequiars stuff.

I used Maguiars this summer on Poop. Fantastic the body work feels silky smooth and you wont believe the crap that comes out of the paint. Mine turned the clay bar yellow with toxins. Really good gear. It took me a good 2 hours and after that I had to put my arm in traction!!

probably the single most effective clean you can give to your car. When I clayed mine (using Maquires) I couldn't get over the difference it made.
Oh and if you drop the clay bar then bin it and use a fresh piece. You don't to drag grit and dirt over your paintwork. Otherwise apply as Coxy says and you'll be fine |
