Default Dimmer switch for CQ

Hi there

I'm getting my CQ into an MOTable position but the one thing still left wrong with it is that the instrument cluster lights don't come on when I turn the lights on.

I've taken the dash apart to see that the dimmer switch and connectors are a complete mess, molten plastic and bodged glue everywhere.

With that in mind does anyone have the dimmer switch TOGETHER with the connector and a small length of the attached wires as I'm goign to need to splice on a new length of cable because the others are so manky!

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

do you need to be able to dim the instruments? Can you not just hard wire it at full brightness? I don't ever dim mine down.

Good point well made. Next question is how I would hard wire it so they worked at full brightness when lights are on!?

Not being a sparky, but I would guess you would find the input wire which goes into the variable resistor (the dimmer), and find the output wire (going to the display bulbs) and put a wire between the two.

The input wire will come from the headlights circuit, so the dash lights will only come on when the headlights are on.

Does that make vague sense?

Worryingly it makes perfect sense! Now's just the case of locating the little blighters!

I would guess that if you found the back of the switch, and found out what colour the wires running away from it are, and then tie those up with a wiring diagram, colourwise?
