So, my manifold has a slight blow. Wr 10v Something I want to fix this winter. Now until I strip it, and inspect, I don't really know the extent, but, looking through the cars history, its been welded/ repaired at least twice in its life.
So, a dialynx manifold is £459 + vat. I have tried reading up on them and its 6 of 1, half dozen of the other on peoples views. Now I think its worth buying as the stock manifold has had a couple of repairs. And being a layman in thinking that surely a weld would distrupt the gas flow inside the manifold? Anyway, what's your views on these manifolds? Warping is the biggest worry? |

I've fitted three iirc over the years and two I bought were used and faced up as I adopted the train of thought they would have had the high temp treatment cycle already so eliminating the warping ... So far so good . I've welded a few too that have held up

Currently, if I was in the same boat, I would seriously consider-
1. Dialynx; if it's in stock, bearing in mind that it may well require some additional work in the near future. It's currently the only available new item, but the drawback is the heat thing. 2. The manifold purported to be available from the swiss this winter. Welding, while a viable option, requires wading through the plethora of people who claim they can, when in fact they can't, or it looks vile afterwards. However, if JJ has managed to get some done that work, then that narrows it down. there's nothing like good recommendations.

There is a Dialynx for sale on ebay.de at the moment.
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Abgaskrummer-...item27d61236a0 Alternatively an MC2 manifold from a 200 turbo will fit with some mods to the exhaust downpipe. I was lucky enough to pick a good one up recently. http://s1277.photobucket.com/user/Ma...tml?state=copy |

When it was removed during engine rebuild a few months back there was a very small warp which needed next to nothing skimmed to rectify. Assuming this was the first time it was removed/checked I would like to think that it's not too bad a choice! Also meant to liberate a few horses from the engine (and a pony from your wallet!) which isn't all bad!

If my memory serves me right ( there's a first time ) the mb also runs a bit hotter too . First one I fitted umpteen years ago is still alive and that came with the flexi section too

I'm not sure about the power output claims of the dialynx. It's a cast manifold, on a cylinder head which is limited in it's breathing capabilities, anyway.
There was a whole load of chatter some time back about the manifold being incompatible with the MB, but the comments were unqualified, and generally repeated parrot fashion by some folk who had difficulty with technical terms beyond on/off, so hardly proof of anything except maybe a flaw in Darwin's theory.
