Unhappy Failed mot

MOT today and she failed.

1 Registration lights out.

2 Nearside rear+ front brake pipes corroded.

3 Offside front brake pipe corroded.

1 Easy fix(?),fuse blown.
2+3 Not that difficult,to change.

The only trouble is,all my tools are about 14 miles away. I will have to,cadge a lift.

Could have been,worse.

I LOVE CLASSIC CARS.

that's not a lot for a classic car.

Brake line corroded is a common failure.
Either flexi hoses have a few hairline cracks or there's a smidgen of rust on the pipes. Probably an over zealous examiner who didn't get his end away at the weekend or a Man Utd fan!

d'you have a flaring tool or access to one? copper lines all round! i'd just do the lot. lights will just be a bad earth or broken wire in the tailgate hinge?

not bad atall really, better than losing your brakes while driving! go for it!

if it failed on the solid brake lines give them a flick over with a wire brush and spray some white grease on them

if its the flexis youll have to change them

Default They've done ok for being 25 years old.

As Coxy said,I think they were after the fix?To me they don't look that bad.
I'll replace the fuse tomorrow and hope it doesn't blow again. If it does, the hunt begins.

Why leave it so late to get it Tested?...You can do it One calendar month before which gives you time to fix it.(if it Passes you get 13 month MOT)...I dont understand why people leave it to the death tbh... .Anyway 2012 will bring many changes to the MOT test according to VOSA,so be better prepared next time.......
Anyone removed a CAT Converter on a Pre 92 car will now have to have one fitted.."Catalytic convertor missing" will be a fail...Regardless of the Emissions reading...

How will they know which cars had cats fitted and which didnt on a pre 92 vehicle when it wasnt legislation at the time ?

That could have complications for quite a few people on here including myself with the 91 80 16V Sport with its decatted powerflow system
