Default A6 2.5 tdi
Vehicle Model : A6
Price : £1595
Location : Rotherham
On Ebay : Ebay Link

Hi folks,

Does anyone on here know anything about this car?? I am planning it but not getting a good vibe of the seller. I have asked for more photos and more info but only had one reply. I have explained I am not just along the road.

Normally this would be enough to put me off but I am about to make a big move and need a big car to help me. I have always fancied one of these as well and not many of them left it seems.

Any thoughts on price, I thought a little high but if in the condition they say probably worth it. Anyone know what are the things to look out for on these? I owned a UrS6 for many years so know the general things that go wrong with them but wonder if there is anything specific to that engine.

Cheers

I reckon its been forsale on ebay for about 7 months maybe more at the same price so worth a lower bid

Certainly top money for a 2wd especially with 200+ miles on it but as 2nd hand cars go I doubt you will find anything more reliable, ive had 4 or 5 of them(all 140bhp 6 speeds) and very little goes wrong with them.Keep on top of the timing belt changes and you shouldn't go far wrong.

Ah thanks for all the info already. Yep planning phoning them indeed, they are maybe the type that don't like messaging. It is a bit of a worry if it has been siting. I have not been on ebay much and have not been looking for another car so it is good to know it has been on there a while. Timing belt was done 4 years ago seemingly but don't know what miles, but sounds it probably needs done again.

I am looking for something that will chew up miles with a lot in the back. I am moving to work in Ireland so it would be required to bomb up and down the M6/M74/A9 many times !!! I would rather do it in a car like this than most of the other heaps going for this sort of price that is for sure.

Cheers again

Hey thanks for this, what is the expected interval for this job?

I gave the guy a call the day and was on the phone for a fair while. It seems it has had a new engine in its life, from a transporter, which I have been told was the 140 bhp model and had a low mileage. I am not sure if any of this is good news or bad news!

All in all I think I am going to go and see it and hope it is worth buying.

50k i think for belt, you may well need to replace the vibration damper aswell if its never been done as they can split and move towards the timing belt and melt it away in a matter of seconds.ALl the info you need is on audifans in the c4 section

Appears to be a bit of a lashup with the engine, presumably they have put a 140 ecu in it aswell from an a6? as they never did a 140 transporter

Usually I go right past there on a fairly regular basis but not got anything planned for at least 2 weeks, could have had a gander for you.

Ok I see, and it is probably up time wise as well. Thanks again for all the info. I think the ECU was changed as well but struggling to remember everything he said. He did mention the engine codes, maybe it was a 140 and it is now a 115 coming to think of it.

I am not planning to get anywhere near it for a while so if you were back over that way could a few pint persuade to take a look? I start a new job in Galway next week so not sure when I will have a look but will be up and down a bit so there is potential to get by, but not for a while as I say, and if it sells in that time it saves the hassle of looking!!!

Cheers again
