Default Drivers window stuck down

great, my wife has managed to lower the window on the car despite being told not to, so now the car has been parked up, taped up with a bin liner and until I get home, is hopefully resistant to all the rain...

Seems that the central windows button works passenger and both rears, but not the drivers door, however, the driver door control for windows does nothing, but the mirrors control works

So, where do I start looking?

- switch itself
- broken wires in door
- relay 367 I guess?
- window regulator?
- anything else?

Is there a way of mechanically getting the window up until I can source the right parts?

Thanks in advance guys

Relay 363 possibly, located above drivers side footwell. Changed one for the same reason on a B4 recently.

is it 363 or 367? I am not at the car, so can't check, but some googling says 367, not saying you are wrong, just want to get the right one mate. Do you have a part number by chance?

Defo 363 Lee. I've got the old one in front of me now. Siemens part number: 79FA404.
I got a replacement from Audibits on ebay.
It was on a B4 saloon though in case that makes a difference!

first thing to do is the easiest, remove the ashtray and push on the underside of the connector to the switch and see if it's a bad/lose contact to the switch.

The one I replaced would operate the window if you tapped it while pressing the switch, obviously a loose connection inside. Worth a try to get your window back up.

yeah, I read about smacking it on the ground, and also putting direct power feed into the motor to get it to go up, if neither of these work, is there a way to manually elevate a window? just as in the way you can with the allen key and sunroofs in B4's?

It'll not be the relay, that would knock out all your windows.

Could be switch, could be window regulator itself as they're a weak point.

Door trim off & check for broken window reg cable... crap job to do in the rain/snow!!
