Default 7a Fumes?

does anyone have any idea if there is a crank case breather pipe etc on the nearside of the 7a engine. i noticed faint oily fumes that you used to get on the old fords if the breather pipe if it was hanging off and this smell is identical. looking closely i can see faint traces of said fumes coming up in the small gap between the inlet manifold and the radiator, around the dipstick area where the arrow is pointing to in this photo. this is an oily fume rather than exhaust fumes.

hmm...

Yes, there is one, from the memory somewhere between 4th and 5th pot, with relatively large diameter outlet. Dunno where it goes on 20v, on NG it goes at the end of the engine and then it is routed in rubber boot - that's why NG engine when cold and/or if it has problems with lambda stalls when oil filler cap is removed.

On the 7A, it's routed around the rear of the engine and feeds back to the L shaped trunk hose at the throttle body via 2 pipes and a hose. There's a flame trap inside one of them.

It's usually blocked with sludge

My mate Brian bought the parts recently to replace a collapsed and blocked breather setup on a 20v. I'm going to do the same.

He bought the parts from Audi using the part numbers listed in the 8th post down by fatroy in this link http://www.audifans.net/ftopict-30558-.html

Not sure what the difference in breather parts would be for the early and late 7a's ?

I've just replaced mine and had major issues getting them.

Ended up with genuine Audi discs

Don't bother with the Brembo ones on Ebay - they don't have any stock

Craig I just bought some for mine, last week, from misterauto. It's in France and the reviews were crap but they came in 3 days and the discs were spot on! JRW. £71 including delivery.

i've never heard from the place - when i went online to check it, there was a british language option on the site which linked me to perhaps their uk outfit? here's a screen shot of what turned up - do these look like the correct ones?

(sorry for the tiny photo - this site won't let me display any bigger)
