Default My bad luck

Had my bunch of keys stolen last Friday which included keys for the car (not the Audi), house and garage.
Reprted it to police and house insurance company immediately and had all house locks replaced. I was in the process of getting quotes for changing all locks on my Saab too. Quotes were in the region of £1000 - £1600

However, just had a visit from pc plod - the buggers only came around tonight and took my car. They have been caught though, although they did end up hitting a car whilst trying to get away from the police.
I have been informed the damage to my car is not too bad(????), but I have lost the car whilst the police carry out forsensic tests etc. Repairs and costs for taking my car away will be charged to my insurance company.
Although I'm glad they have been caught, I bet nothing whatsoever happens to them in court. I'm now wondering how this will affect my insurance premiums. Anyone have any knowledge on that?
Cheers
Chris

I think in your situation I would have seriously immobilised the car - putting most of the removeable bits from the engine bay in the kitchen.

Chris, I'm not sure if there is a significant difference in Insurance policies between the UK and the US, but I suspect you will wind up paying more some where.

Even if another driver hits my parked car, and owns up to it, our "comprehensive" collision coverage has a $500 deductible. So I wind up paying for the first $500, then the Insurance covers the rest.

BTW, very sorry for your troubles. Also, very sorry that despite being caught, the system there will probably not levy any significant punishment to discourage further crime.

that is something that need to be seroiusly dealt with in this country, the 'three strikes and you're out' rule would be good over here.

bad luck and bad news jogi...

Three strikes.... do you mean one to each knee cap and one to the head with a pick axe handle?

I personally think some Arab states have got it right. If caught stealing someone else's property, off with the hand!

Sorry to hear that Chris. Shame these twats never get caught red handed and sorted out. Scum of the society that don't have a job or anything else better to do. Hope you get everything sorted out.

Not a pleasant experience and insurance should be OK so long as you had protected no claims.
At least it wasn't your 90q...
