Default screaming engine

hello

i'm wondering if there is a way to tell if your idler pulley is screaming, without taking it all apart and replacing bits..? just now and then, goes away when the engine warms up.

from under the car i was absolutely convinced that it was the alternator bearings..
from above, water pump? idler pulley?...

the idler pulley by the look of the sevice record/receipts was not replaced at either of the timing belt changes.

thank you!

Try squirting a bit of WD40 in there.
