Default Caliper problem 100 turbo

Ive bought pagid brake discs/pads for front and rear of my 100 turbo, started on the rear. Everything looked the same as what i took off but refitting was not happening.

The piston wound back in but kept winding, didnt actually go far enough in to get the caliper over the new pads/disc.

I refitted the old disc and pads, took it for an hours drive, the rear side i was working on was almost glowing red, you could smell the heat and feel it 6inches away, the face of the alloy was extremely hot

I guess the piston is now stuck on, pressed in all the time.

Do you think i need a new caliper(s) or have i done something wrong????

Ive not got to the fronts yet

New pagid rear discs and pads

You can see that the caliper wont fit

woah.. something not right there, is the centre bore right? did the discs fit before you put the caliper carrier back on? dics manufactured wrong? maybe C4 ones or something? i had massssssssssive trouble with drums for mine, brake engineering fought me for weeks telling me that the pcd was 4 x 100 not 108..

centre bore is fine, pic shows the caliper twisting the disc off, discs from what my eyes see are identical, disc slots on no prob, carrier goes on but caliper just wont slide over new pads.

Even when the piston is wound in as far as it would go

Now its red hot with the old pads & disc

Andy, sound like you have purchased the wrong pads, and/or discs. Either that or you have not cleaned the carriers and callipers properly, I doubt this second option but it is essential everything is properly clean on reassembly.

Also you should not have wind the calliper right back to make everything fit, piston should be a turn and a half out and still go together.

Right, I'm through pissed and finding typing hard, will give you some more info tomorrow.

I guess that's the fault. Can you shoot a picture of the break lever at the caliper (is it in it's rest position)

Cheers Kit.

The discs and pads say they are for my car on the ECP website and on the boxes, only one advertised when i bought them. Fairly clean and didnt really need that much cleaning, The pads didnt seem that much bigger than the ones i took off which are around a year old.

The lever often get's sticky in the caliper housing. You must ensure, that the lever end is touching the spring holding bolt as the parking brake is released. If not, the piston will not be turned in it's final position.
When is you car built?
