estimate around £1k for engine all ancillaries and loom. Prices do vary though. On top theres a few bits needed but if you do it yourself can be done for sub £1500.

Pretty much right but if you want it to be 100% right you'll end up spending £2K+ once intercoolers suitable inlet pipework and perished hoses are taken into account. Mine initially cost £2k though I changed just about everything on it and overhauled the head too and this was doing 99% of the work myself ... Engine was bought from Tonks 4X4 for £850 and think all the gaskets and seals came to over £350 alone.. and still not finished upgrading it

depends on how far you will go, I started with a 10k € budget to build myself a 90 quattro 20VT, but raised it to 15K now.

'funny' thing is that I haven't even started yet. Got most of the parts now but sold the 90 quattro I had because it needed to much work.

It's not only the engine conversion I'll do once I find myself another 90 quattro. It will get a full respray, engine work, S2 drivetrain complete, coilovers, Recaro classics, Porsche brakes, etc. Don't even have big HP plans, around 380 hp.

Do it once do it right

But now I got to find a nice 90 quattro again
