Gets my vote Tony

For things I can't or don't have time to do myself my B2s go to my local garage. They have done all my cars for years and are both proper engineers and trustworthy. However, with anything requiring either specialist Audi/B2 knowledge, or a more general resto or refurb brief, you are right - there is no specialist support.

Having seen, among other posts, your own UR resto, owners would have confidence they were getting a top job.

I for one would want to discuss some jobs on a B2 if you decide to give it a go...

Tony.4V6
Independent VAG.?

I don't want to be a doomsayers, but while your interest may lay in the B2s and a little sideline stuff, I'm pretty sure you'll need a broader range to get a wider customer base, satisfy expected income.

That said-
With your fabricating knowledge, attention to detail, and overall ethic, you'd likely attract work from folks like me with limited time/space to tackle big jobs. I spend a lot of time out of the country, so time is precious.

Fixed price service package, for jobs you know well? Like cambelt changes.

The Pre-A-Meister! Specialising in B2. Widen the market.

Or

Fivepot-Travelling-Turbo-Timingbelt-Tony.

Have the confidence! You have the skills!!

Or 'Five banger in a box' exchange engines, like they do with brake calipers, except much more expensive!

If you can specialise in something and you are good at it / confident you can make a go of it, then why not.

There will definitely be a demand for someone with those specialist skills

You'd certanly never have to put down the welder specialising in B2

Any chance of a bit of indoor space from Mr Cox? Give him a discount. 3%?

I think there may be more B2s out there than we might think. I base that theory on the fact that I recently sold a Haynes B2 workshop manual on eBay after only a couple of days I was very surprised by how quickly it sold and by the number of views and watchers it generated

Great idea , & spreading your knowledge across b3/b4 -c3/C4's with similar/same engines etc , I'm sure it would work .

You reputation precedes you
