Default Audi 80 Quattro 2.1 Starting after 15 years laid up.

Hi All,

So I want to get cracking in the car in the next week or so but thought I would seek advice first.

So I have this Audi 80 that hasn't been turned over in 15 years.

I've been told to pour some diesel down the bores and leave over night then turn over by hand the next day. This sees sensible to me.

Any other tips that anyone has is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Gareth

Agree, get an excellent battery or several excellent batteries, ensure there is good fuel and spark... Ensure piston rings are free of bores and run free by hand (hence diesel soak), change oil, turn over by starter, check, recheck everything is looking good, then go for it... What could possibly go wrong...

Yeah 100% got the belt to do first! Hopefully starting the strip down after the steering column area is reassembled and interior is cleaned up a bit.

What about fresh fuel. The stuff left in the car will have lost its 'combustibility' a long time ago
Good luck and keep us all posted

Might be worth visiting the tank, pump and filters for a nospot...? If all looks good, fantastic.... But it might just save your bacon checking...
