did the 2.5 TDi only produce 115 bhp, doesn't seem a lot compared to the 1.9 TDi pushing out 90 & then 110

if it's early AAT engine then 115hp, if later AEL - then 140hp
Fantastic, strong engine |

My wife ran the quattro version of this AEL engined model for 8 years up to 2005 which was used for mainly motorway miles and I had to prise it away from her at 205k. There was a significant difference between urban/rural (45-50 mpg) and motorway (60-63 mpg) running in her hands. My experience was closer to 55 mpg on motorway use but that was probably my heavy right foot. The car was serviced every 10k and the only high use item was tyres but belt (s) replacement was quite expensive.

I drove from Gloucestershire to Guildford on Friday and back on Saturday in my 1994 Audi 100 2.5 Tdi AAT 6 Speed ,mainly about 65 mph on the motorway ,but very strong headwind and rain Saturday night coming home
Mpg was. 54.9 Average on 18 mile commute is 49.9 Over 60 mpg is possible without trying too hard Last edited by terrywindy1; 08-02-16 at 10:09 AM. |

I have a 2wd AEL A6 Avant and get about 45mpg on a motorway run. Around town it drops down into the mid 30s.
I am always very envious of those who claim to get 60mpg out of these cars. Cheers David |
