Audi 100 C3 Front Headlight units (pair)

Looking for some replacement headlights has chrome mirror inside has rusted ! but eBay are charging ridiculous prices for second hand ones that aren't really in great shape ..help please !

My 100 failed Mot last year with 'incorrect beam image'. The reflectors had lost most of their coating (not rust as such).
Got some slightly better replacements from a parts car which got me through, but I suspect I will have problems again in the future.

Some people offer a recoating service, but it seemed quite expensive when I looked into it.

Has anyone had Mot success with diy repairs such as reflective tape or paint?
