Default Exhaust blockage?

Hi,
has anyone ever experienced a blocked exhaust? As i mentioned in my other post my b2 Sport feels restricted for some reason. Following good advice from members i have changed the plugs, fuel filter is next on the list, but a friend of mine has a theory that my exhaust may be blocked due to internal corrosion. I have had my car for 9 years, out of that it has spent around 5 years parked up in a non heated garage,so the exhaust system is at least 9 years old, probably more like 10 or 11.
I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced such a problem?

Thanks

Aye on a B3 Coupe with NG engine, cat was blocked so engine wouldn't rev over 5k rpm.

Hi John,
thanks for the reply,my b2 doesn`t have a cat. But if your cat was blocked then i guess my exhaust could be as well.

Thanks Isimmo,
i`ve been driving it for nearly 6 months now,i think that rats must be long gone.I suppose their nest could still be there. How far up the system could they go,starting from the backbox? I know gases travel all the way from manifold, but there baffles in both the boxes. Is it logical to assume that if there is a blockage it would be in the backbox?

I would think any of the silencers could develop a restriction?
It was a pals coupe that had the cat issue, we checked cam and ign timing first before dropping the exhaust after the front-pipe..............does your's rev out ok?

John, yes it revs alright. Just seems really laboured. Would there be any advantage/disadvantage to bypassing the middle box,ie having a straight through pipe made up,directly from the front pipe to the backbox?

Would I be right in saying this is just a 2 box system and you could take off the first silencer and due to it's shape just look through it to see if it's clear or not-if it's the same as mk1 Golf it's just an expansion chamber I think.
I'm not familiar with B2 exhaust.
