I'm looking for a tidy, low-ish mileage TDi estate. I had one previously which was a rust bucket, but I loved it.
There's one for sale on autotrader at the moment at almost £1500, but its a fair distance from me (I'm just outside Edinburgh) and it didn't seem to justify the price when I spoke to the dealer. Apparently it's spent all its life in Dunoon, so not sure if anyone knows the car. If anyone knows of any decent estates for sale, please let me know. Thanks Simon |

Hi Josh. Thanks for the reply, but we need an estate to transport our dog. She's not that big, but she needs to travel in a crate so has to be in the boot. Thanks again.

cheers, craig here's a nice one but still with the dealer's profit slapped on top of it> http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1993-AUDI-...item35cea50f0f apart from high miles and the vw badge slapped on the grille, this could be worth a look > http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-m...#photo-content and fading away nicely in someone's driveway, the going-to-be-salmon-pink-shortly, bargain > http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-m...#photo-content

Hi Craig
Thanks for the reply. I should have been a bit clearer in my opening post: the Dunoon car is now for sale down in Nottingham, but I wondered whether anyone in that area may have known the car. The trader mentioned there was a bit of lacquer peeling off on one of the doors, and I also think that the cam belt will need changed. Do you know how much that would cost? With these things needing remedied, I am not really wanting to travel all that way, because it is difficult to negotiate on price when they know you have come a long distance. I don't mind paying £1500 for a "minter", but my feeling is that the one for sale is not exactly as good as that. Shame I missed out on that one sold recently. Thanks Simon |

there's always some helpful soul on this forum near any particular wagon to help with viewing, simon so if that's the one you're interested in then just ask and i'm sure that someone will be able to help out.
![]() i had the cambelt done on my old 80tdi and it cost just under £200 to do. well worth it if you're going to hang on to the car for a while. i wonder if john could put you in touch with the guy in your area he sold his tdi to, to give you an idea what you should be seeking for your money.. HO!! MEDALLION MAN!! WAKEY WAKEY!! ![]()

If anyone was prepared to go and give me an honest assessment of the car, i would be happy to pay for their time. I have done so in the past when buying a car far away from home.
Unless a cambelt has just been done, I will definitely get it done: I am planning to find a car to hold on to for quite a while. Going to see what a £1500 one is like would be good, but it must just make me jealous. The one you have shown above with the dealers profit slapped on is the one I am considering. The black one with high miles looks quite good, but over 200,000 is higher than I was hoping for. The faded red one looks like my old one, and my wife has warned me against getting another "banger". |

I'm sure the black one was for sale just after I bought my one.....was very appealing as I needed roof rails
.........looks very nice and Peterlee isn't a long haul.I sold mine/wife's to someone up by Brechin. I liked it........wife didn't, the end. ![]() |
