Hey everyone..
Having a tough time finding some details on hitches for my 1982 audi 4000 diesel (your 80). Ive seen a bunch on cars in europe and figured id ask if anyone has pics or info on what setup you all run over there! Thanks Mike

Here you go, I think the 80 & 90 will share the same tow bar set up.
![]() Here in the bottom right hand side of the picture, you can see the setup of the tow bar. Basically the shape of the frame follows the contour of the boot floor and the back panel. ![]()

That won't help him - yours is quattro, while his 4000, being diesel, obviously is FWD.
IIRC FWD towbar is way simpler in construction - just pair of plates, with pair of holes for bolts in each, welded to the pipe. P.S. Nice stuff in that picture. Did you fitted old anti rollbar or went through brake line conversation? Last edited by msh; 27-07-13 at 12:58 AM. |

Of course the car. Obviously involves drilling some holes. Might be some preparations done at manufacture for OEM westfalia towbars, like with my B3 quattro, where on fitting the towbar I found out that two round holes in inner layer of two metal layers at back of trunk are the places to be drilled for two towbar bolts, and also strange opening in rear muffler heatshield turned out to be prepared for a towbar bolt. Also, all B3 rear bumpers have contours marked inside where to cut opening for towbars - all three possible - FWD, quattro non-removable and quattro removable. I'm glad that at the moment of fitting my car had A80 bumpers, as, of course, I cut through the wrong contour, the biggest one, which turned out to be for FWD, that become the reason for reinstalling A90 stuff
Ah, and the trunk carpet also has shape, that allows additional clearance needed for plates that comes inside the trunk. Btw, spent some time searching ebay and found this http://www.ebay.de/itm/Audi-B2-Anhan...item3f270e081c , only seems to be aftermarket. Last edited by msh; 27-07-13 at 03:01 AM. |

Nice. I'm currently missing pair of B4 wishbones or left forged wishbone [some time ago I accidentally bought right one very cheaply] for full 2.8 front axle setup. It feels strange that if my car would have left factory 2 1/2 years later and fitted with 20v engine, I would be changing just front anti-rollbar, not everything except subframe
