eddy, THIS is the trouble: i was raised on old skool fords and you NEVER saw anything
wider than a two inch pipe at the rear end until those neds started f**king about with rs turbos etc, renault 5 gt turbos and fitting bean tin exhausts that not only LOOKED horrible but SOUNDED horrible too!!

so, for me, this is the standard - i can't BEAR to see anything wider than that!

or is it just me?!

Your back box is wrong and sitting too low probably due to a goosed rubber . The right box looks ok and bigger pipes as on say can touch badly , think I had a 2.5 or 3 pair of pipes on one of my cars once and it looked ok but was very close to the rear apron

Non standard back box is part of the problem there. Audi probably left a fair gap so as to ensure there was no possible discolouration of paintwork due to hot pipes.
The tail pipes do move around a fair bit under hard driving aswell.

The height is about right, the pipes being a touch smaller than genuine ones exaggerates the effect.
That said,a genuine back box isn't cheap but its the best there is.
