Default URS6 Exhaust Box Removal!

Hello all

On my past Coupe GT I removed the rear silencer and welded a straight pipe in its place! Sounded excellent without being too loud. The S6 is far too quiet. My idea was to remove the centre silencer and again, replace with a straight pipe (keeping the rear silencer) but have it as a boltable section so I could put the silencer back in if need be. How much silencing does the centre box do? Would I be better off removing the rear? Will it effect the car's back pressure/smooth running?

Thanks

Turbos don't need back pressure. Get the gases out as quick as possible.

I've been quoted £150 to remove the middle box and weld in straight pipe. They are twins going front to rear and the company are going to make a new exhaust bracket to go on the straight section. Good price or rip off? Me and Dad would do it ourselves but don't have pipe or flaring equipment.

Does anyone know how loud it will be with the middle box removed? Or should I get the back box removed instead?!

I ran one of my previous s6s with just the downpipe and cats for a bit while i repaired the exhaust(had cracked round the joints on one of the boxes),sounded good and not too loud.Never went on a motorway with it though so can't say if it was annoying at those speeds

If i were you I would get a single box stainless system made for it,saves a shit load of weight and sounds good.

btw Richie(hoffer on s2forum) can make you a nice system and he is only a few miles from you

I had a Strumung turbo back 3" via a sports free flow cat then straight to a DTM back box
Mine droned around town because it's an auto
A few hundred revs more and it's in the sweet spot, give the beans and sounds like a V8... has been observed by Simmo up here. Now on a standard exhaust again.

Get a sports cat in there, then remap it is yours auto? Canny remember off the top of my head.
Stick in a better air filter as well
