A mate cam over and gave me the inspiration to get out there.
We got the regulator fitted, and pump (facet 0.5-4psi), and ran some fuel through to check the pressure. (3psi is circa fuel draining under gravity speed, or that would be fine to get it going and is what the r6 carbs require) Set the pressure to a guesstimate. Then we checked all wiring, checked for leaks, and primed it. The pump never seemed to stop running which I found odd, I thought it would stop once primed? Anyways, evidently fuel was getting through so we gave it a crank. No fire.
So, to set the dizzy to a guestimate, I had previously got the car to TDC on piston 1 (marked on the flywheel - but is this TDC on compression stroke?!?!) and aimed the rotor at plug lead 1, then set the firing order in a clockwise rotation. With the car cranking and me gently twisting the dizzy it still didn't fire. Could I be 180 degrees out? Ideas folks? How do I test for a spark without shocking myself (yep done this before!!) ![]() Thanks.

How to fit a timing belt and time to TDC.
Right the timing mark on the top pully is on the back and you line it up with the edge of the head where the rocker gasket sits best with the cover off (if the rocker cover is off the two front loobs for number 1 piston will be facing up).. Then the aux pulley (drive to distributor) and crank pulley (bottom pully) also has a mark on each of them which you line up so they are together ie looking at each other.. Then the distributor also has a notch on the edge (when the cap is off) which lines up with the rotter arm.. This will give you TDC (top dead centre), so when you look through the window on the gear box (for timing marks) you will see a line on the fly wheel lined up within the window..If this is the case you can now fit the timing belt.. The car will now start (just) you now have to turn the distributor to the left or right to time it all up this is best done with a timing light or you can do it by ear the car will race with the revs one way and will die in the other direction if you set it some where in the middle that will do fine.. Hope this gets you out of trouble... Derek..

Thanks!!!
The dizzy was wired all wrong! Ignore the smoke, the breather was blocked so it was coming out the rocker cover... Check out this video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/KqlMq6Fw0os Second one, fire!!! So not tuned! Also dizzy is lacking its vac advance so timing is well out. Check out this video on YouTube: http://youtu.be/eGrxzd4lY-Y

Anyone got a centrifugal advance dizzy? Do Audis run them at all?
If not, where can I take a vac from? I'm guessing the carbs somewhere...
