Instead of waffling on about it, I've done what I thought others might do, and contacted the website, asking them to check the validity of the advert or pull it.
Simples.
I understand from my London-based friend that this is quite a common scam, earning the people responsible some easy money, although he said its the first time he'd heard of them targeting 'classic' car ads.
