Default help needed 5 pot starting missfiring.

right needing a bit off help guys had the 90 cd of the road for a while now keen on getting it on the road tomo when start the car from cold i pump the throttle twice seems too start when i do that but she wont take the throttle straight away starts missfiring and popping in the metering unit think thats wat u call it anyway strong smell off fuel in the exhaust might be from me pumping throttle who knows,when shes warm shes fine any1 know wat could be the cause ave checked all hoses for leaks and had new leads cap and rotor from quattro corner fitted so shouldnt be that,cold start is also disconnected,

I think I'd be having a look at the warm up regulator first. As they age the control pressure gradually rises it should be almost zero from a cold start and rise to 3.4-3.6 bar as the engine warms over a couple of minutes. If it continues to rise beyond this level then the differential pressure i.e. the difference between system pressure, 5.2-6.0 bar nominally, becomes smaller until eventually the car won't go at all.

See if some kind soul on here has a spare one (known good) that you could try swapping out and see if it makes any difference (no pun intended).
