chuff me, reminds me of when my mom had her Austin A35 and used to go to the local garage at the top of the road and ask for a pounds worth of fuel!

A local garage to me still use them, and a private house in Somersham Cambs has them in his front garden with his AA museum.

they still have one of them on the farm here! for unleaded, wind the handle, push the one on the right away from you then you're off! still works..stops automatically at one gallon for some reason. you must be able to 'set it' somehow to other amounts, dunno.

Just about,remember them.(Not old enough.)

I remember these.
They had a glass bubble on the side, with a little propeller(thing) in it.You could see the fuel,go through the bubble.

There was a set working until recently (and may still be) at Hillary Brock, north end of Olney High Street, with the refinement that the hose was on a gantry that swung out over the pavement.
