nicked from yahoo answers..

You can check the abs sensors by following the
lead from the sensor to its connection. Disconnect
the plug and using an ohm meter measure the
resistance between the two terminals on the sensor
side of the plug, depending on car and year the figures vary.
As a guide if you measure all four sensors they should
read the same or very close to each other, if one is different
the sensor is faulty and will need to be changed.
The other usual fault is the slider on the brake caliper
sticks and stops the brake working correctly, you will
need to disassemble the brakes to check this.

Try cleaning the sensor tips and the cv teeth on the front, rears are a magnetic type contained in the rear wheel bearing and play up regularly when the get coked up with pad dust etc.. you can try cleaning them but be very careful-common fault with the newer pugs - be thankful thats its not a 307- even genuine parts die after a couple of months!!

thanks for the help guys

as said ill be fitting new discs so its all getting a clean up
only had the car a few weeks and the hiccups have started

thought i would have a laugh today and asked the main dealer how much to change cam belt and its 380 squid (must be gold plated me thinks) on the bright side that does include vat

out of interest do you know if you have to reset anything if it is a faulty/dirty sensor or does it auto reset

At the southern end of the East Sussex coast, you'll find a a convenient spit of land that forges a tenuous link back to France.... Beachy head, I believe it's called... Anyways, to cure said ABS fault it is recommended to approach this 'panacea' at maximum velocity and press 'le-snottie-froggie-reset' button at point of departure...

do i do this with the roof down as there is no ejector seat fitted or do as a captain of a ship would do and go down with her

no offence taken

its the wifes car and she loves it and as much as it pains me to say its actually a nice car to drive and supprises a few drivers with its quick turn of foot and it actually goes round corners ok
