Dolphin slaughter

I know a lot of us on here love our wildlife,as i work in conservation, i feel a need to raise the awareness of the slaughter by the japanese fishermen of some of our planets most beautiful dolphins and whales which are protected by international wildlife law.The oceans are in a bad way and many habitats are being destroyed by human greed,preserving biodiversity is in the interests of us all.The carnage being inflicted on some dolphin species at Taiji in Japan is a crime against us all.What is fueling this is the trade in captured wild dolphins for amusement parks such as seaworld,a captured dolphin can fetch 150,000 bucks,those not selected for training are butchered and sold as meat,they show no mercy ,whole pods are slaughtered and put into the food chain.Testing has shown the dolphin meat is contaminated with mercury and pcbs which as we know are extremely toxic,this polution is a result of coal fired power station emissions,which build up in the marine enviroment,working up through the food chain.This practise has been going on for years and was highlighted in the brilliant activists film ''The Cove'' with Richard O'barry.
