Depending on usage. For example, standard B5 1.8 20vtq gearbox can't cope with 300 bhp - in case when between it and engine is sport clutch and driver uses launch control
With standard clutch and without launch control no problems - that's experience of one known ppl. U probably will not have such problem anyway - because u don't have quattro, so excess power will turn one of front wheels into smoke
There is no need for u to install other B2 gearbox except for longer fifth gear. If u want get rid of clutch cable and speedo cable than maybe some B3 gearbox, but I'm not 100% sure how much work is involved to fit B3 gearbox
Although - that would mean gears would flip in different positions. Damn.
