" hesitating at idle"......?? Do you mean idle is rough? It's more likely to be an air/fueling issue but worth checking distributer cap, rotor arm, HT leads and plugs. Even cleaning dirt from outside of cap can help......if insulation is gone then spark can use the dirt to get to earth.
Air/fuel filters??......how old?
Worth checking the above......could be a cheep fix?!
