Definitely worth investigating if not done so already.
I had the same in my 90. Three non functioning electric windows. Turned out to be faulty switches. I'd be trying that route first.
Is there no Audi's in a breakers yard of that era you could try and swop the switches over? Even if they are the incorrect profile/ shape but the plug on the rear may be the same, just to rule out faulty switches and give them a try before moving on?
