first. Missfire ran a thread about doing a new cover, albeit on an avant, rather than a saloon. I have to do my V8, as well.
I've been quoted £500 to get it done at an upholsterer. Too much in my book. So I shall go down the route of re-lining mine.

The head lining on the t44 cars was sacrificial. Audi intended it to be destroyed, not repaired. 20 years later, and I thick we all know how practical that approach will be.

The upholsterer was proposing removing the foam backed cloth, and cleaning the residual foam off. But leaving the card in place. A technique they use on many more modern cars, as this is the way a lot of cars are built now.
But the description he gave did seem to require 2 guys. and that also suggests that both know what they are doing.

I'm going to try Missfire's route.
The difficulty with a saloon shell will be access to the glue face. So I imagine it will put the car out of action for a short while.
