How to fit a timing belt and time to TDC.

Right the timing mark on the top pully is on the back and you line it up with the edge of the head where the rocker gasket sits best with the cover off (if the rocker cover is off the two front loobs for number 1 piston will be facing up)..

Then the aux pulley (drive to distributor) and crank pulley (bottom pully) also has a mark on each of them which you line up so they are together ie looking at each other..

Then the distributor also has a notch on the edge (when the cap is off) which lines up with the rotter arm..

This will give you TDC (top dead centre), so when you look through the window on the gear box (for timing marks) you will see a line on the fly wheel lined up within the window..If this is the case you can now fit the timing belt..

The car will now start (just) you now have to turn the distributor to the left or right to time it all up this is best done with a timing light or you can do it by ear the car will race with the revs one way and will die in the other direction if you set it some where in the middle that will do fine..

Hope this gets you out of trouble...
