Oh yes, the MID and the DVLA never have two such incompetent half witted organisations combined to create such a mess. I also have a letter advising that my car was uninsured, unless I coughed up a fine immediately it would be doubled and if that didn't work they would take me to court. I'm still waiting for the summons (since last August). Fortunately my trade policy has a line at the top of it which says as clause a) any motor vehicle the property of, or in the possession of the policy holder. I think that that covers it and means that I win irrespective of whether the DVLA can find it on the MID.
