Basically the car wouldn’t start and then would sometimes start and run fine then turn it off and it wouldn’t start again, so intermittent starting problems.

We tested the Camshaft Position Sensor (G40), located behind Cam Pulley with an LED tester and found this to be faulty, so replaced it and tested it again and it works, crossed referenced the results with my other URS4 which runs and it’s the same.

As the timing belt had to come off, we replaced the belt at the same time. The car has started from then, and it ran perfect so we know the timing is correct, the belt has been double checked and it’s the correct belt also.

I swapped bits from the running URS4 and Vice Versa. The following was ruled out;
- ECU
- Coilpacks and Earths
- Power Output Stages
- Engine Sensors @ Flywheel; Namely Crank Reference Sensor (G4) and RPM Sensor (G28)

I put the car to Auto-Electrican to remove the aftermarket immobiliser and put the wiring back to factory, they say they have by-passed the immobiliser under the dash instead…………..it still wouldn’t start.

The Auto-Electrican also by-passed the fuel pump relay, and confirmed that they tested the injector plugs with an LED tester and there is no power going to the plug to activate the injectors. So in addition to there being no spark, the injectors aren't getting power.

We also checked the pin on the flywheel and it's there, if that was the problem the car wouldn't intermittantly run, when it did run it ran sweet as a nut!........

As time went on it began not starting less and less until eventually not at all, leading me to believe it was a frayed / broken wire.
