replacing gt coupe injector seals . . . . .

hi all, :)
i decided to replace my injector seals to see if i can get the naff starting - and even more naff running :grr: - sorted out,
i havent really had any experience with injectors b4, but i have got them out and got my new seals. my old seals were rock hard and a bit chipped in places. my problem is, that i have noticed what looks like a corroded c-clip just under the big seals. does anyone know if this was once part of the seal or a seperate thing? it looks like they were seperate, and will they be ok without this ? the new seals seem like they will be pretty tight - if i ever get them on  this is probably a stooopid question, but do i need to take the injector apart to get the big seals on ?

my injectors do look a bit rough but i intend on putting them back in as the problem is only when idling , and she fires well otherwise, so im assuming the injectors themselves r ok.

i did try spraying them with WD to try and see if they were the problem but as the car hunts quite badly anyhow and doesnt run for more than a couple of minutes, it was hard to tell, so i though id give them a look anyway THANKS!!

As far as i can remember k-jet injectors one seal. have you taken the injector out of the plastic sleve
that sits in the manifold

Laura, you should have a brass insert to start with, then a plastic inner insert. One the end of each injector there must be a shroud as this is what the airflow flows over to help make the spray cone. If you have taken them out, then make sure they are not left in the bottom of the seats. When putting them back in ensure the shroud is on the end, and the rubber 'O' ring is in its recess. They may not go back snuggly to start with but a touch of fairy liquid or ( huh hum ) lube will do. Then once they are back in ensure the long metal strip is located to ensure they stay seated and held in. You can push them in so far by hand then a gentle push with a flat bladed screwdriver will make them slip in to where they should be. Ensure you fit the fuel lines to each injector first though cause there is not much room.

here we go sorry for the delay, think it was too detailed, took ages to upload, you can see the metal ring under the one on the left, i broke the seal off the middle one and when i was cleaning off the one on the right, the metal c-clip ring thingy just crumbled off ! oops!

I think you may need to replace the injectror as i don't think it will seal,i may be wrong. If it were mine
i would replace all the injectors GSF are saleing them on e-bay for about £30 each

Booty 04-03-09 09:27 PM

Being honest, I would replace with new ones. The difference will be noticeable to say the least. When they are as rusty as those, the nozzles are probably gummed up a treat too!! Unless you try leaving them in the vinegar bath as posted somewhere else on here, just to see what happens.

i think i will get all the loose crap off them and try them out with the seals i bought, and invest in some new injectors in the mean time then, like i say, the car runs so well when foot down sounds pretty too, wasnt mis-firing or anything , the nozzles look pretty clean round the ends, so i was a bit reluctant to buy new ones, been looking on ebay but couldnt find the right injectors on there, my local motor parts quoted me £54 each:yikes: ill have another look cheers guys thanks for all your help!:smilewinkgrin:
