Brakes stuck on ?
 

Hi I was speaking to a chap today that has a t44 100 ,,, he parked the car up some 12 months or so ago without the handbrake on but seems to think the brakes are now stuck on as himself and his son can't budge it ,,,,,any idea's as to why it might happen,,???

If its been stood outside its probably just the two materials of pad and disc stuck. Get it in gear and drive it and it should free up. If there trying to push it might be harder especially with flat tyres on grass!

In a lock up and covered down but could be the same prob ,,cheers

Can the vehicle be jacked up?

Thinking: if vehicle has been stood for some time, part/s could not only be seized but possibly corroded too. If you were to try and free the locked part/s by driving the vehicle, well surely the excessive pressure/force of doing so would run a certain risk of breakage, whereas I would have thought jacking the car up and trying to free each of the wheels manually would involve less pressure/force and at least you can see what's going on. :smilewinkgrin:

There is the prob,, owner left of the hand brake and pushed the car into the lockup as there is no room each side to exit so me think only way is to drag/pull it out via towing eye

I think that maybe you're right...
dragging/pulling it out would indeed seem to be your only other option. :eek:

Was the car washed immediately prior to putting it away? It's possible it could be nothing more than rusty discs causing the problem.

I had to jack up the accessible wheel, take off the rear wheel and brake caliper and then force out the brake pads which were stuck to the disk. Then we shifted the car over using a the jack to access the other side and did the same.

The fronts we managed to just give the caliper a few taps with a hammer. Whilst the wheels are off fill the tyres with air.

This car had been laid up for 15 years so I expect you will have an easier ride!!!
