Protune day Sat 27th July

Anyone interested in a Protune day?
My report on the last one i went to will be in July's Audi Driver mag. The price for a group day is substantially reduced to just £196 for a custom re-map. Based in Blackpool John an ex ECU programmer for Rolls Royce, knows his stuff and made a useful effect on performance but more importantly mpg. Anyone wanting to go should contact me and put your name below. Cheers:rock:

I'm very interested, PM sent!

Did he do your 20vt?

£196 for live mapping a 20vt seems cheap!

lee20vt 04-07-13 11:11 PM

That's what I thought! Too cheap. Cost me £666 at awesome gti to have my 1.8t Passat custom mapped and took them over a week to fine tune all the mods in correctly.

you'll need to excuse my ignorance on this subject, chaps but don't things like this tend to fry old cars like ours??

lee20vt 04-07-13 11:40 PM

Not really no! More chance of my frying mine driving as it is! New big intercooler, more cold dense air and not enough fuel to match = Bye bye 20V! Hence why I'm restricted to titling about at the minute. I've been offered a chipped Ecu cheap but if I can get a custom map made up at £200 I'll be there!

hmm...rather interesting. is this something that can be applied to the ur quattro 10v turbo engine too?

lee20vt 05-07-13 02:37 AM

Remapping benefits all engines, especially those that are turbo charged. Will help free up those restricted horsepower and maybe improve your economy too! I had my Bora tdi remapped on Tuesday again at Awesome GTI and its a different car all together. Gone from a sedate 115bhp to around 145-150bhp and around 260-270ft/lbs of torque! Is still returning around 55mpg on my commute to and from work!

geneandbolly 05-07-13 02:50 AM

that's mental and if i'm honest i just can't get my head around it!! :o
so, there's no chance of you doing a mischief to the engine or making it unreliable etc with this remapping business?

It's like anything, depends how far you push it. A little tweak here and there does it no harm. Manufacterers cars generally aren't running at there full power outputs for insurance groupings and to keep there emissions down. A remap will bring the car to its full potential. As long as the company/person know what there doing it's no lose situation!
