You seen the rs1700t recreation on there too , proper handful one of them

Seriously, you wouldn't be able to write a list like that unless you'd done it, or stolen the list... And the car sure don't look like it's a stolen list!

Anyone remember Gartrac rwd conversions of the 80s/90s?
Same concept, cant remember if the cars were supplied as shells already converted to take engine, suspension n running gear, or wether they also sold kits?
Any memories JJ or SteveT63???
Cracking looking spec if it's genuine, for that money. 

Here's the site and build of a rather famous one!

Martin Skanky as he was pronounced by some.

These were G4s. (4wd) The one in the pic was driven by John Welsh. Tons of amazing races on YouTube of both of them:tup:

Fark me Steve! I was only thinking of him the other day, when Grandstand used to show rally Ross on a Saturday; all of the competitors bar 'Shanky' had rwd, and you'd see him erupt past them easily as if propelled by an invisible Exocet and the drive from the USS Enterprise!

There's a road going gartrac in the village (!) and I used to sponsor a group 4 rally car a few years ago

Can't compete with that but waaaay back I used to go out with a girl who's brother had 2 RS200's, bought at £25k each, and he had trouble selling them for much more.
Now where did I leave my time-travel machine...?

john johnson 08-05-11 07:27 PM

Lol ! Yeah I've done all sorts but don't tend to tell all and sundry when I've had a bowel movement , I always remember back in the day fetching my first rs from a garage in ilford ..... Mike youngs ...... And it was littered with stuff that was big money then under dust sheets

Yep,I remember Gartrac conversions Andy.

When a group of us went to the Phil Price Rally School in Knighton,Powys in 94,we could take turns to ride side saddle in one of these said cars.

Phil did say 300 and something hp I remember.
I also remembered how we were a day late.Barry Maguigan had recently turned to rallying at the time.He was there the previous day and rolled his 205 GTI 300 ft down the embankment!
Cruel.....but one had to laugh:nod:
