Locking wheel nut
Hiya
Have just brought another B3 Coupe and it is fitted with locking wheel nuts to protect the 16 inch Borbets on there but I havnt got the socket to get them off.....The nuts are circular with 3 holes..if anyone has a socket knocking around please? Cheers |
There are several combinations for them I'm afraid, iirc they are carplan ones, my ur's had em and I lost one too
|
think they were all different variations... as they are lock nuts... there is a socket set available to remove them though... not much use to you as you probably wont need to use them again... try a tyre fitters they might have something to help...
|
chances are they'll need to be drilled out.
Had a similar issue on one of my Volvo's a few years ago (I lost me socket) and the dealers ended up drilling the buggers...powweerrrr  |
They had to remove my lockers on the van, was amazed how easy it is tbh
|
Piece of piss to remove tighten the rest of the wheel studs a little bit more find a appropriate 12 point socket usually 17mm hammer it on then undo job done
|
had this problem with the locking nuts on my cq when my key broke - tried local garage etc and 12 point socket to no avail and then found that halfords do a 2 piece socket set for about £15 that worked a treat. These sockets cut into the locking nut - had all four done in about an hour ,bearing in mind that you will have to unwind the socket from the locking nut in a vice after removal and that the nut will be no longer useable.
Only tried it as a last attempt but was well impressed with this tool. here's a link to halfords set http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165469 |
Some good ideas thanks...will try the hammer and socket firts but if that fails the Halfords set looks the job:tup:
Cheers |
put a picture up of the nut ,i have several of the sockets.
