1971 Audi 100

German made '71 (not CKD) Audi 100 LS, imported from N.Z. by me and currently in storage as I have not had the time to play with it

All paperwork provided and taxes paid (receipt from Revenue and Customs)

The car is rust free and as good as the pics, and comes with a large amount of spares (mostly NOS Audi), it even comes with a ton of good second hand including a re-build engine

It has cost me a little over £8k including recent storage, 6k was the original cost including shipping and import tax and stack of parts for it but I'm realisic about this and so have placed it up for £3,000.

I have all reciepts and paperwork to and as the car is unregistered you could be first on the log book; as a bonus it will also be tax free as it is a '71 . In N.Z. it was a nice car and I drove it over both islands in N.Z. before import.

Selling as don't have the time (and I have had this a couple of years now :cryin:)

Milage is approx 41k

Not much more to say other than it will need trailering away; it has no MOT and is not registered

Work required for MOT? -rear brakes need shoes replacing, but then it comes with NOS backplates, drums, shoes, divider bars.......so no issued there and if you fancy that 100 point build....

Windscreen washer pump needs replacement / rebuild

NSF balljoint or wheel bearing needs replacement but I have both

1 or 2 of the driveshaft CV gaitors need replacement as does one of the steering rack gaitors -again, I have NOS gaitors and NOS complete driveshafts and spare racks

That should be it, car is very good, has looked after and had a new N.Z. MOT (WOF) when I got is and like I say it has been owned by me here and in N.Z.

So, if interested then PM me for my number and come over with a stack of cash and a trailer

Cheers, Matt

Well, given it cost just over £5k to purchase, ship and pay the tax to get it here, on top of this I've also bought a stack of NOS / good used spares and stored it for a long time now it is pretty good on price -or to put it another was are there any others out there in this condition???? I guess it probably stands me in at £6k plus 3yrs storage........

Come on chaps, get those wallets out -and no more PM's offering under £3k as thats not the price

Coxy 08-06-11 06:33 PM

In the mean time as I have other things on the car is still for sale (for the moment)

Yep, the pics are a mix of Auckland, Lake Taupo, Horopito and good old Surrey :D -got some of the car in the south island too

mattp 14-05-12 12:13 PM

Anyone fancy a nice 100 requiring light recommissioning as this is available

Roll up roll up

harmeetjohal 14-05-12 09:56 PM

Is she registered now?

mattp 02-07-12 10:29 AM

Car is still tucked away in storage awaiting re-commissioning (4yrs now)

Car still in same rust free condition, just need time (which I clearly do not have)

So, should anyone have the time and cash to buy (not tyre kick) then get in touch -to date this has cost me £8k including import tax.

Come on chaps, this is cheap as chips for a rot free body -give a good car a new home before I get tee'd off with it sitting there and get it recycled into baked bean tins or rod it :(

S4_SAT 11-09-12 04:07 PM

Still got this dude? any up to date pics?

mattp 01-10-12 11:51 AM

Still for sale -lots of PM's / Email but unless I knew better a load or dreamers or timewasters.

Back up for a rather nice example of a 100

Coxy 01-10-12 12:20 PM

bet ya still not got it registered!!:p

If you did, I reckon you'd sell it much easier. It will put quite a lot of people off as they don't know what is involved in registering a vehicle imported from overseas.

rich.r 01-10-12 12:32 PM

Is the price still the same or has interest been added :D

harmeetjohal 01-10-12 12:41 PM

plus have heard you dont let ppl come view the car? not sure if that is true

mattp 02-10-12 05:07 PM

It is very simple to register, it costs £50 and involves going to the local licencing office and arranging for an inspection, There is one form to fill in and you need proof of tax paid (which I have already taken care of, tax reciept included)

The first person registered is just that, just like a new car.

When I got this car I doubted that I would have much time to work on it and 4+ years down the line that is still the case. For me is has now cost me a little over £8k of which a little over £2.5k is storage costs. I do not regard the 3k price tag as excessive as this is simply the cost of shipping and tax, the purchase price and the mountain of good used and new old stock spares is thrown in.

It was a blast to drive over in New Zealand, I just don't have the time these days to play on the car and have other projects on the go. There are only so many hours in the day.

What supprises me is the general lack of interest from anyone with a modicum of common sense, I get picture hunter and dreamers who can't understand why it might take more than fresh fuel and a battery to MOT (it might do but that is down to them).

At this rate there is a real risk I'll just scrap it as it is bought, paid for and just costing more as time moves forward. That would be a shame as I don't believe there are many like this is RHD. I have been here before with old cars and last time I cut the car up and scrapped it as was going overseas and had a similar situation, I didn't regret it, just a shame to destroy a decent rust free original car.

Back up, lets hope this sells

No, it was £3,500, now £3,000 so that would be a saving. Perhaps you ddin't read the price and got this confused with the cost to me at £6k (now a cost to me of a little over £8k inc. storage -sale price is just shipping and tax, well, slightly less actually)

I'm sure you are also aware that £3,500 back when it was originally advertised would be worth more than £3.5k now (real time money / value) so in simple terms I have knocked over 500 off.

The car is in secure storage and safe there, I also store other parts there and have had a whole vehicle stolen before by a 'serious' buyer from a different storage place. That was expensive to me as it was not insured so not unreasonably given the price my view for some time is if you want the car I will get a fresh round of pics, you turn up with a trailer and cash and buy it.

No tyre kicking, no haggling, either you want it or not.

I have sold far more expensive cars for alot less hassle, and also sold a project remotely for £8k without this bullsh*t this car seems to attract. Maybe it is an Audi thing?

So, when you or anyone can tell me there are loads of original rust free Audi 100 C1's in RHD on offer (i.e. a common car) then I may change my view.

fraser 03-10-12 08:18 PM

Hi, you interested in a part exchange for a 1969 beetle in great condition thats ready to go? email fraser@ss100.com if so

mattp 04-10-12 10:55 AM

No p/ex, I have too many nice cars already hence why this one is not being used

G60MAT 28-11-12 10:50 AM

Wow, look real clean! GLWS... :)

mattp 29-11-12 07:32 PM

Thanks, but considering it is not expensive and it has been advertised for year it really ought to have sold.

Anyone want it or should I scrap it?

I am cancelling storage on this at Christmas so come end of March 2013 this needs to go back on the road or get scrapped (which would be a shame).

Condition is the same as the pics above, no rusty bits but tyres now need replacing (an age thing, not because they are flat)

Come on guys, pull yer fingers out and stump up the cash and turn up with a trailer and take her away.

Coxy 29-11-12 09:28 PM

There's no way you can scrap it.

Is it UK registered yet?

Coxy 30-11-12 08:23 PM

I'm guessing from the lack of reply, it is still not UK registered.

Yes, it is a bargain at the price but it will always put people off. if you got it MOT'd and registered, I doubt it would be around for long.

I'm still tempted, but not at £3k though.

Audi 100 C1

Hi there,
Beautiful 100 you've got there!
In your advert you mention that you have some spare parts....... do you by any chance have a pair of rear wheel cylinders? Or a front coil spring?
I'm restoring a '73 100 at the moment and I'm struggling for these parts.
If you could message me back or call/text on 07788 668600 I would be extremely grateful.
Best regards, Chris.

pretty sure Graybum on here had the same problem when he bought his 2 door from Holland earlier this year. Might be worth dropping him a pm as he had to sort some out befor ehe could get his through an MOT

Coxy 30-11-12 09:54 PM

see here for starters

http://www.classic-audi.co.uk/forum/...ad.php?t=22540

mattp 03-12-12 06:28 PM

Coxy, no it is not register which is why the ad says it needs light mechanical recommisioning and registering -it would not be £3k if it were registered.

I have had this for years not and not had a chance to do anythng on it, the new engine in project 1 has developed a knock (and it is just build), same project has a frozen box (also new) and on project 2 there is a heap of welding, a new engine and paint required and that is for starters -can you see why I have not managed to work on the Audi (project 3)

JohnS 12-12-12 10:18 PM

Hi Matt, i'm a new member & ideally i'm looking for a B1 80 but i like the look of your Audi 100, i was wondering how many miles away from the Heathrow area is it stored?

mattp 13-12-12 09:06 PM

The car is in approx 10 miles from Heathrow; doubt it will fit in your hand luggage though

JohnS 13-12-12 10:20 PM

Like the humour, i live in Iver but not many people from outside the area have any idea where it is so i find it easier to say 'near Heathrow'. I expect you've been made plenty of stupid offers but is there any
negotiation, i know you haven't got time for tire kickers but as the car is only 10 miles away i'd like to
have a look at it in the flesh, but if your not open to an offer to be honest there is probally no point in looking, i simply haven't got 3K, but it very tempting, i love early Audis and could give it a good home.

mattp 15-12-12 12:12 AM

John, good luck finding a good early Audi, I do not think my one is for you unless you can stump up the £3k.

If you can, let me know

K Simmonds 15-12-12 11:46 AM

Surprised this hasn't sold, looks like a really solid example of a rare car. It isn't hard to register an older car in the UK, just get an MOT using the VIN number then pop to the local DVLA office. Cost's 170 quid including a tax disc, which this car doesn't need so it would only cost a little over 50.

Personally if I was looking to buy I'd rather register it myself, you get to be the first registered owner in UK that way with the V5 stating 0 previous owners. Did it with a Corrado G60 last year, very straight forward.

mattp 17-12-12 06:59 PM

Thank you for this -guys it really is that easy, £50 and you can be the first owner on the log book. Isn't that cool?

I did this with an ex italian beetle and I must say it was quite cool to be the only owner (as in like a new car's V5c).

The inspection is only if they ask and this is to check chassis numbers are the same as you have claimed (paperwork supplied so unless you are can't fill in the form correctly you won't have any issues)

Incidently there was a slightly rusty LHD 100 on Ebay at the weekend (not tax exempt either) and not registered at £5k; didn't sell but you'd have exactly the same issues with this (well, rust and LHD to deal with). It does show this is extremely fairly priced.

Save a nice Audi from the crusher and let me spend the proceeds on mince pies (and a new engine for project 2)
