For the love of J-tin

Here ya go Emjay.

Here a 2 of the finest pieces of J-tin ever.
While in Japan in 2005 and 2007 I quested to spot either one of these stunning vintage GT’s

A 1970 Nissan Skyline GT-R

A 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R

http://i653.photobucket.com/albums/u...t/scan0003.jpg
I saw a grey metallic ’73, camera in bag. Grrrrr.
Looked and sounded unbelievable.

ZermattGT 11-12-09 12:20 AM

A more accessable Japanese classic.
The Datsun/Nissan 510/Bluebird 1800ss

Beautifully preped and tuned.

Yeah, that's the one I could run off with. Nearly bought a 240Z in 1990, got an Audi GT instead, but there was one knocking around here in dark metallic blue with a 5.7litre small block V8 in it... Oh, and wolfrace wheels... Stunning car.

Coxy 11-12-09 08:16 AM

apart from the obvious 240/260z, the Toyota Celica TA22 does a little something for me!

Emjay 11-12-09 09:25 AM

ooohh what a thread to wake up to, 70's Japanese pornography at it's best :arf::arf:

ZermattGT 11-12-09 11:24 AM

Your welcome.
Love the 1973 Skyline, pretty much a one year only design, and a wild synthesis of muscle and compact sports sedan.

NorrS2 11-12-09 11:37 AM

Shows my knowledge of J cars!! I didn't know there was such a thing as a GT-R prior to the R33 version!!:o

Emjay 11-12-09 11:39 AM

one of my faves

Toyota....or Mazda me thinks...more likely Toyboata!

Hey Coxy...you've virtually owned a Shamal haven't you??
I know you had a BI Turbus, but didnt you have a red Maser after that...A Ghibli???

ZermattGT 11-12-09 02:51 PM

I adore the Toyota 2000GT Coxy.
I hated that they made it into a convertible for 007 "You only live twice"

There a Shelby Motorsports (top-secret at the time, actually chasis # one) preped one about 2 1/2 hours from me I've been planning to visit.

we followed that little baby in on our very first BC up the M54. We knew we were in for a great event when we saw it and we were indeed. Not seen it for a while though

That is a later 70's Nissan Skyline Groomus , they were feeling the fuel crunch too.

That's kind of a beast Coxy. Here it was a Corolla I think.

Yyyep,Mum had one of these SSS in Metallic Turquoise. The colour you mean is Ice Blue.We called it the Violet 160J SSS here...

Remember the dog leg gearbox and the "beeeeep-beeeeep-beeeeeep" Reverse Gear warning buzzer??:wall::D

Yes,twin carbs with a weak alloy head on an excellent iron block.
My Mum warped the head in 4 months....
RIP.... CPG 29T:nod:
